Pink Floyd
"Pink Floyd" is a famous British rock band formed in the early 60 ies and are known for their forever thirst for creative experimentation. Philosophical thoughts that are expressed in the texts, innovations in the areas of sound and new material made Pink Floyd one of the most popular bands who worked in the style of art-rock.
The formation of the group and their composition The starting point of the creative life of the group was the moment when two friends - a good student of the Polytechnic Institute in London – Roger Waters and Nick Mason joined the band, founded by Keith Nobel and Clive Metcalf. However, after some time, Nobel and Metcalfe left the band. Their place was taken by a friend of Roger Waters Syd Barrett. Young band long found for a suitable name, changing various, sometimes original names: "T-Set", "Sigma 6", "Meggadeaths" before settling on "The Pink Floyd", which is then called "Pink Floyd". In the name of the team heard the names of two Georgia bluesmen, whose records take a pride place in Barett’s home collection.
The first years of their existence, the quartet worked in the style of "rhythm and blues", but even then began to show the characteristic feature of the group - exciting acoustic effects that are expressed in the music. During one of such performances guys were noticed by Peter Jenner, who later became the band's Manager. Under the "wing“ of Jenner, "Pink Floyd" often gave underground concerts in London and recorded some more albums.
However, falling on the boys after recording their first album popularity began to Syd Barrett fatal. Hours-long performances and also frequent drug use caused a nervous breakdown the leader of the group. In January 1968, place of Barrett was taken by a new guitarist David Gilmour.
The fate of the group All subsequent albums of the group recorded without the "creative leader" Barrett, still succeeded with crazy fans. "More", "Atom Hearth Mother", "Meddle", "Obscured by Clouds" has always occupied the leading positions on the charts in the UK and USA
The peak of popularity of Pink Floyd came on experimental album "The Dark Side of the Moon", when recording used equipment with new 16 -track technology recording. The album was created about nine months and was not wasted – the disc has become one of the leading best sellers of all time.
After the release of the last but not the least successful albums, "Animals", "The Wall", members of the legendary band officially announced his retirement. Soon the "Pink Floyd" as the group stopped their existence, and each of the members successfully began solo career.
This situation lasted until 1994, when the team with the participation of David Gilmour, has been recreated for record their last and final album. "The Division Bell" became the most profitable album of Pink Floyd which at this point has ceased to exist. After a collective triumph, the band again broke up and nothing more is released.
