Progress in Development of Undergraduate Public Health Training Ø College of Micronesia – FSM: Approved 2009 & started classes in August 2009 Ø Palau Community College: Approved 2012 & started classes in August 2013 Ø College of the Marshall Islands: Certificate in Public Health approved in November 2014 Other Public Health Training Activities Ø Bachelors in Public Health Nursing (2013 -2015)
University of Arizona Western Region Public Health Training Center (2014) – COM-FSM Local Performance Site The purpose of the four-year placement is to • Support COM-FSM in its continuing development of its PHTP; • Support COM-FSM to translate its current public health curriculum to a distance learning platform; • Deliver by distance COM-FSM public health courses to public health workers in Chuuk, Kosrae, and Yap States; • Provide continuing professional development courses for the current public health workers by face-to-face and distance learning; • Assist COM-FSM in aligning its public health curriculum with the Bachelors in Public Health Program at FNU; and • Where possible, deliver both upper level FNU Bachelors in Public Health courses and Masters in Public Health courses to eligible public health workers and students in the FSM by face-to-face and distance learning.
