Physics Impact 7
CC-J Contributions CC-J made an essential contribution to PHENIX’s impressive Quark Matter success: Ô~50% of all PHENIX Quark Matter data reconstructed at CC-J ÔCC-J “routinely” provides 100 K fully simulated events per week ÔThese simulations were integral part of our analysis effort for Quark Matter ÔNo CC-J è systematic studies No è Reduced confidence in our results 8
Other Contributions l Regional analysis center of m. DST’s o. Model for other efforts (e. g. , French) o. Archive l Tracking of technology advances o. Data storage o. High-speed, long-distance networking l Data export facility at RCF 9
Personnel l Manager: T. Ichihara Technical Manager: Y. Watanabe Computing Scientists: o N. Hayashi o S. Sawada o S. Yokkaichi l Scientific Coordination o H. En’yo o H. Hamagaki l BNL work o Y. Goto o A. Taketani 10
Gratifying Success Slide presented by WAZ at RCF review of PHENIX Computing on 03 -Dec-98 09 -Feb-01 11
This Year l In Run-2, PHENIX will record a data-set equivalent to its entire Run 1 data-set EACH DAY è We will need 100 -1000 times the CPU cycles required for Run-1 l Expect è Major heavy ion physics impact è Major spin physics impact è Major role for CC-J 12
Summary l l l PHENIX has achieved its goals for Run 1 at RHIC. CC-J has played a very large role in the PHENIX’s Run-1 success. PHENIX wishes to thank all whose vision and dedication have made CC-J a reality. Special thanks to M. Ishihara 13
