Why Washington D. C. ? The capitol of the United States of America was created to be an impressive showcase of democracy, to humble foreign heads of state, and to keep the Southern states happy. It is a city like no other in the world. This is why Brookville Intermediate School plans a yearly trip for eighth graders. n In order for you to be more prepared to visit this city, either this year or later in life, it’s important to have some idea of what to expect and what you will learn! n Web Resources
How do you know what to visit in D. C. ? With so much to see and do in this city, your teachers have created an activity to help you answer the following questions: 1. What makes Washington DC so special? 2. When you get a chance to visit DC, what do you absolutely HAVE to experience? Getting Started n With a partner, explore the web resource links and create a scavenger hunt that highlights interesting things you learn about Washington, D. C. n Write your questions on the scavenger hunt form and record the corresponding answers on the answer key sheet. n A group of peers will complete your scavenger hunt next week.
Your Task! For this project, you will be grouped and assigned a DC related topic to complete a presentation on. To help you make a well informed decision about your topic, you are required to complete a topic of interest form. n Before your complete your Topic of Interest form, you will work with a partner to complete a scavenger hunt created by your peers last week. n When there is about ten minutes left in class, your teacher will give you a Topic of Interest form to complete.
