This is Our Heritage Aims: • Help community heritage groups develop Interpretation Plans • Link plans to the over-arching theme: ‘Wales the first industrial nation…created by genius, moulded from the land, crafted by many hands’ • Establish a ‘network’ of community heritage interpretation projects
Activities & Results • Over 70 individuals attending workshops • 22 community groups developing heritage interpretation plans • 18 plans complete and seeking funding or being implemented

Trail of Light Update – An initiative to celebrate the story of industrial South Wales – Through floodlighting buildings and historic features in the landscape – With traditional architectural feature lighting, artwork installations and a Festival of Light.

Design Concept Tredegar Clock Tower • Enhanced lighting scheme for this restored landmark • Traditional approach sympathetic to character and location • Anniversary year in 2008
Design Concept – 9 Arches • Solar scheme proposed • A 465 elevation lit with feature lights highlighting arches / new railings
Design Concept - Nye Bevan Stones • Interactive scheme • Solar panels provide light supply which changes colour / effect in response to noise levels • 50 th anniversary year for NHS in 2008 may be appropriate to launch at this site
Design Concept – Gadlys Ironworks Complex • Substantial scheme lighting up facades from engine house to Museum • Proposed that it will be powered by ‘green energy’ from RCTBC’s power supplier.

Green Network • Aims to improve the urban environment for community recreational use, to increase the biodiversity interest, and to involve the local communities. • Successful strong partnership of statutory and community sectors • Green Network as a partnership has secured in excess of £ 1. 5 million pounds of grant funding in the last three years • Genwen Quarry is a site that has been identified by the partnership for regeneration
