Pancake Day is called Pancake Tuesday or Shrove Tuesday in the UK. It’s a tradition to eat thin, flat pancakes on Pancake Day in England. The pancakes are topped with sugar and served with lemon juice. Sometimes people like to eat pancakes with sweet toppings, such as chocolate, jam or maple syrup.
Shrove Tuesday is a Christian festival and traditional day of feasting. People celebrate it before great Lent. It lasts for 40 days. People fast during the Great Lent giving up chocolate or sweet, but in Russia we give up meat, milk and cottage cheese.
