Review of Implementation of MDMS WEST BENGAL (1. 4. 2016 to 31. 12. 2016)
Best Practices q Rs. 500 additional honorarium. to Cook Cum Helper. q Eggs are served once a week (all districts). q Chicken 50 gm, per child once a week in nine districts. q 969 Dinning halls constructed through State Funds & 1540 from MPLAD funds. q Kitchen gardens have been developed in 1994 schools. q Three radio and two TV spots prepared on MDM. q Awareness of MDM through newspapers. q A leaflet prepared on MDM was circulated. q 67 lakh units of eating utensils from State funds.
Issues i. Automated Monitoring system not yet initiated. ii. 13 days less covered at both PRY & UPY. iii. Huge variation in data on coverage of children (as per MIS – 83 lakh, AWP&B – 119 lakh) i. Food grains utilization is only 49%. ii. Pendency of 8. 49 crore to FCI as on 31. 12. 2016 iii. Firewood is the mode of cooking in 74% schools.
