Over half way through your child s last year

Over half way through your child’s last year at Downton Primary School - I am sure all the children in Year 6 will make the most of their last few months with us! We are all looking forward to our residential visit to Avon Tyrrell on March 20 th to March 22 nd – please keep an eye on the weather and ensure your child brings suitable clothing for our stay! Letters have gone home this week with the form B 2, asking about medical and dietary details – please make sure this form is returned to the school office by Wednesday 27 th February. Thank you. Letters will also soon be sent home about the Bikeability course we run for Year 6 pupils in May (over two school days) at the end of term 5. As always, if you ever have any queries or concerns, please do come and see me. Thank you, Jane Heath Weekly Homework English weekly- set Monday, due in Wednesday. Mathematics weekly- set Wednesday, due in Friday. Spelling – children will be bringing word lists home regularly to work on focus words at home. The selection and number of words will depend on each child. Green Journals are used to record homework details: PLEASE use these to record when you listen to your child read – regular reading at home is essential, and discussing vocabulary and characters/plot etc with your child is very valuable to develop their language and understanding. Please note that during year 6 there may be extra homework set at other times. Your help in encouraging punctual, careful and neat completion of homework is appreciated Stop Press • Please remember to provide your child with an old shirt /T-shirt to use as an art apron.
