Our World is Wireless! How About Yours?
Our business idea. . . ”local wireless data transfer” SATEL Oy develops, manufactures and markets radio modems for wireless data transfer Our modems are based on narrow-band radio technology
SATEL in a nutshell FOUNDED IN 1986 The company was founded by Mr. Pekka Aura and two other individuals SATEL started operations in Salo in 1987 The owners have experience in radio telecommunications since early 1970’s IN PRIVATE OWNERSHIP Pekka Aura and TAPIOLA Insurance Company together currently own 92% of SATEL shares
Resources PERSONNEL Nowadays SATEL Oy employs 65 persons: • In management 6 • In sales 10 • In R&D 22 • In production 27 R&D • In 2004 we channelled 12 % of turnover to research and development • All radio modems produced and sold by SATEL Oy are of own design
The markets Nowadays we export our products to over 50 countries all around the world We operate in Europe, North America, Russia, China, India and other Far-Eastern countries
Company’s financial development ECONOMICAL STATE The company’s economy is in excellent shape Our guideline is: “We cannot spend more than we have earned” SATEL Oy has an AAA credit rating Turnover/Million €
The secret of our success Four competitive factors: THE QUALITY AND RELIABILITY We continuously develop our products, based on our own experiences and feedback from our customers SHORT DELIVERY TIMES The whole production, including SMD-composing, is made inhouse, enabling the delivery times as short as under a week in most cases PRICE We do not aim to be the cheapest ones in the market, our competitiveness lies in the total costs. Data transfer costs are fixed and reasonable, even cheap on common channels GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION We want to have local representation close to the customers

COMPATIBLE PRODUCTS Models with a same color are radio compatible!
Network design centre (NDC) We help our customers in designing a local radio network by assigning the antenna masts, cables and antennas based on the installation site. We also carry out the needed measurements on site before the installation and control measurements and tests when the system is running. SATELLINE -3 AS NMS, the latest variant of SATELLINE -3 AS radio modem, includes the SATEL NMS (Network Management System) feature.
The advances of wireless data transfer Installation of a radio modem network is fast, easy and economical Data transfer is real-time, the system is always on-line The operation of a radio modem network is reliable. Lightning storms or diggers can hardly knock out the wireless connections Expanding the network afterwards is easy The control of the network stays with the user. No outside operators are needed Data transfer costs are fixed and reasonable, even free on common channels
Applications
Control and information system for public transportation • wireless data communications for the buses, bus stops, traffic lights control system • to control bus timetables • information about arriving buses at bus stops • collect information from payment terminal
Parking systems • free parking places centralized parking system • speed limits can be changed weather conditions, traffic-jam, road repair etc. • traffic lane signs
Traffic signs • speed limits can be changed weather conditions, traffic-jam, road repair etc. • traffic lane signs
Remote control of a water supply system • radio networks are a part of water and sewage system • connecting the pumping stations, water intake and towers to a real time remote control network
Powerplant automation • power-, transformer- and delimeter stations remote drive • localise the reason for power cut
Land surveying • Differential-GPS survey (to transfer deflection data from the reference station to the rover station) • robot tachymeters remote driving • roadworks, buildings, airports. . .
Logistic systems in harbour • radio data communications to cranes and trucks • real time information minimizes needless transfers and make possible larger cargo transport
Enviromental monitoring • waterways, air and ground polution measuring • seismic registration, radiation measuring • real time follow-up – fast reactions • easy mobile measuring stations
Car racing • collecting telemetry information from cars • trimming set-ups while still driving
Material handling • Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) • Warehouses, papermaking, steel and metal, printing and publishing etc.
Alarm and surveillance system • city-wide, real-time network • banks, warehouses, companies, housing. . . • alarm information linked directly to a guardstation

The links between the monitor station and the sectors se different frequencies. u 3. . . 5 km SATELLINE-2 ASx SATELNODE RS-232 +12 VDC SECTOR 2 +12 VDC If a programmable logic or a PC is added in the rep eater station, together with a proper system software, the repeaters may share the same frequency. SATELCODE 3. . . 5 km SATELLINE-2 ASx SATELNODE RS-232 SECTOR 3 +12 VDC The max. number of SATELCODEs is up to 64000 units/frequency. SATELCODE A monitor station and several sectors (areas). A sector consists of a repeater station and SATELCODE alarm transmitters. The alarms inside a sector are received and forwarded by the repeater station. The monitor station collects all the alarms coming from each sector. Note! This example is the operatiomnal radio network in Estonia. The equipment are Satelcode/-Node and Satelline 2 ASx Radio modems.
