What is Distance Education?
Distance Education - Definition OCTAE - NRS Implementation Guidelines Distance learning is a formal learning activity where students and instructors are separated by geography, time or both for the majority of the instructional period. Distance learning materials are delivered through a variety of media including, but not limited to print, audio recording, video tape broadcasts, computer software, web based programs, and other online technology. Teachers support distance learners through communication via mail, email, telephone, or online technologies and software.
Did you know? 1. 30% of PY 15 adult education enrollments participated in distance education. 2. In PY 15 distance education students had a level gain percentage of 61%. Student with no distance education hours had level gains at 45%. 3. Distant education participants have lower chance of exiting your program without achieving a level gain. In PY 15 48% of non distance education enrollments exited without making a level gain. This dropped to 33% for distance education participants. How do we know all this…. . NRS data!
