El pretérito What is the preterite? It is one of the past tenses in Spanish.
-ar verbs in the preterite tense • To conjugate -ar verbs in the preterite tense: • 1 - drop the –ar and • 2 - add the correct ending. é aste amos asteis ó aron
Preterite –ar verb endings Yo – é Nosotros – amos Tú – aste Vosotros – asteis Él Ella – ó Ud. Ellos Ellas – aron Uds.
Comprar – to buy Yo compré (I bought) Nosotros compramos (We bought) Tú compraste (You bought) Vosotros comprasteis (You-all bought) Él Ella compró Ud. (bought) Ellos Ellas compraron Uds. (bought)
Limpiar – to clean • Yo limpié • Nosotros limpiamos • Tú limpiaste • Vosotros limpiasteis • Él • Ella limpió • Ud. • Ellos • Ellas limpiaron • Uds.
Verbs ending in -car, -gar, & -zar…. • Yo form spelling changes!!! -car to qué -gar to gué -zar to cé Spelling +
