Students with IEPs Process To Seeking Services 1. Upon acceptance, contact Accessibility Center at the specific post-secondary institution to register (Do not wait until September)
Students with IEPs 2. Gather all medical and professional documentation required (i. e. psychological assessments, medical reports, IEPs) 3. Make an appointment for an Intake Interview
Students with IEPs 4. You will receive information and instructions to access eligible accommodation and services, which could include: - alternative test & examination arrangements (i. e. extra time, calculator, computer) - adaptive equipment & assistive devices - alternative format for printed materials
Students with IEPs FAQ’s 1. Do I need an updated psychological assessment for university? Universities generally PREFER a recent assessment. If they require a more recent assessment after reviewing your documents, they will offer interim services until new assessments are complete. Assessments could be arranged through the universities or privately.
Students with IEPs FAQ’s 2. Could my child receive an updated assessment in his/her Grade 12 year through TDSB? Assessing students for post-secondary purposes is not a priority for schools. There is usually a long list of Grade 9 to 11 students awaiting psychological assessments, who need immediate support.
