Executive Director’s Report • We’re moving! • Our new office is in the Sergenians Building, located at: 2801 W Beltline Hwy, Suite 202, Madison, WI 53713 • Doubled the number of trainings in the past year • Work on collaborative relationships with partners (DRW, DOJ, Planned Parenthood, etc. ) • Staff worked on creating values for organization • Goals were developed to guide our work • Staff is amazing!!! SAVS Budget Advocacy • Governor Walker proposes restoring SAVS funding to $2 million per year. • Does so utilizing General Purpose Revenue (GPR) for first time in state history. • These provisions pass in the Legislature and are signed into law by the Governor in June. • Long‐term goal of seeing SAVS stabilized by funding with GRP obtained! • Sets the stage for future budget advocacy, including increased funding for SAVS. IH
Legal Trainings • WI National Guard (3 rd consecutive year providing this training) • School Resource Officer Training • WI State Victim Assistance Academy • Scheduled – UW Law School (Humanitarian Immigration Law Class) • 112 people attended Legal Trainings IH
Expert Witness Work Partnership with DOJ and EDAW ‐ Building on Mock Trial Training held in 2012 • Created Expert Witness List Serve • Held two webinars to help ensure participants remain connected and to provide updates. Webinars include Prosecutors and DA/VW Specialists from across the state. • One Mock Trial participant (and WCASA RTA) has been qualified as Expert Witness under new law! • Webinars will continue next year. 2013 Legislative Advocacy Day • 88 participants • “Today was good. It really helped meeting our representatives and conversing with them. It was great that survivors are able to come and share. I will come back to a future event. ” • “Very informative event in regards to current legislation and proposed bills. ” • “As a victim of SA it was hard to talk to legislators about the issue but I can tell it helped having a victim share her story. ” IH

Director’s Meetings • WCASA co‐sponsors the meeting with American Indians Against Abuse and End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin. • Domestic violence, sexual assault and tribal executive directors to learn, share, challenge and enhance sexual assault and domestic violence services in our state. PF
Director’s Meetings May 15 -17, 2013 in Rothschild: • 57 attendees • New directors learned how to master time & labor tracking • Topics included Enhancing Transgender Services, Healing the Healer session, Trauma Informed Care within Leadership and Legal & Policy Updates September 18 -20, 2013 in Rothschild: • 64 attendees PF • Topics included Leadership and Organizational Sustainability, Context and History, including Hope Prophecy, social justice movements and timeline, Organization in a box, Strategic Alliances and Adaptive Organizations, Vision/Values/ Promise, Personal Sustainability
Director’s Meetings What did you find helpful about the Directors’ Meeting? Time with colleagues from around the state who understand the issues and challenges that ED's face. Camaraderie, thorough information, networking, crowd sourcing expertise. Training on cutting edge topics to agencies can incorporate ‐ the meetings as the way to facilitate implementation what funders/coalitions are finding as new routes to improvement. Getting to know coalition personnel and the directors is critical. PF
Northern Training July 17‐ 18, 2013, Lake of the Torches Resort Casino, Lac du Flambeau In partnership with American Indians Against Abuse (AIAA) & End Domestic Abuse WI • Exploration of historical trauma and the development of sexual assault programming within rural and tribal communities • Working Together and Experiencing the Joy of Discovery: deepening the discussion about developing and sustaining connections among different communities and programs. • 45 attendees, including 26 from tribal agencies PF

Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy School (SAVAS) May 6‐ 10, 2013, Potawatomi Carter Casino & Hotel, Wabeno • 38 attendees • This 3½ day, introductory level training addresses the needs of being a victim advocate. Advocates practice skills necessary to prove comprehensive advocacy for victims of SA. • In response to feedback from participants, we moved 6 sessions to webinar, making SAVAS more accessible PF
Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy School (SAVAS) May 6‐ 10, 2013, Potawatomi Carter Casino & Hotel, Wabeno There are some topics that are difficult (child SA, stories of oppression…) It’s a LOT of information and material. The training is 100% necessary for people new to this field. It is very helpful and I learned a lot. I would recommend any person new to this field or collaborating service providers, community to take part in this. I really liked the webinars. Very informational and easy to understand. : ) PF

Survivors & Allies Task Force April 27, 2013, Masonic Center, Madison • The Survivors and Allies Task Force is a statewide group of sexual assault survivors and their allies working towards bringing the voice of the survivor to the sexual assault movement. • 99 attendees • Sessions included: Art Therapy, Brain Gym, How to be a good support person, Mindfulness Mediation and Self Hypnosis, Spanish Session, Yoga, How to ask for help, One Billion Rising Dance, Shutter the Silence My first time attending; I will be back. Thank you to all who put it together. Big thank you. This was my first of such events and will not be the last, thank you! PF Honestly ‐ thank you so much ‐ networking alone is invaluable!!

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Training I am inspired to assist the hospital I work for to develop/update policies/ protocols regarding SANE. I also am inspired to help my community develop a SART. Through guidelines learn to become better and become more involved in SANE and the importance to people/ victims. Be able to positively affect victim's life. I will be a better advocate for my patients. Will be able to add information to beginning a more comprehensive SANE program. PF

I usually hate in‐service, this was great. ” ‐ 15 year Police Officer “I don’t know what happened, but an officer that had been working on a stalking case had come to her house and said I am sorry, but I think I can do more with your case. ” ‐ Victim Advocate that had coordinated LE training for her county with WCASA consultant. LGBTQ Committee • LGBTQ Committee Meetings • LGBTQ Trainings Training Feedback: Really appreciated the discussion of differences and similarities of DV and SA in straight and LGBTQ communities. I think the format of this training was well done as well ‐ a good variety of activities, power points, video, kept me engaged ‐ discussion! All the information is helpful and relevant to how we would like to change the way staff interact with clients. Definitely will help us train staff. GL Mission statement: By raising awareness through prevention and education, we give voice to people who are marginalized based on gender, gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation whose lives have been affected by all violence, including sexual, domestic, and intimate partner violence.
