Nobel Prize is one of the most prestigious international prizes, awarded annually for outstanding scientific research.
Five of the most significant discoveries
1)X-rays, 1901 Wilhelm Roentgen discovered X-rays in the late nineteenth century.
2)Insulin, 1923 The hormone that reduces the concentration of glucose in the blood was discovered by Canadian scientists Frederick Banting and John Macleod.
Bunting is still the youngest winner of the Nobel Prize in medicine and physiology - he received the award in when he was 32.
3)Blood groups, 1930 Austrian physician Karl Landsteiner took six different test tubes of blood and separated in a centrifuge serum from red blood cells.
Then stir serum and red blood cells from different samples. It was found that serum did not precipitate erythrocytes from a single vial.
4)The structure of DNA in 1962 DNA is one of the three major macromolecules. It is responsible for the storage, transmission from one generation to another and the creation of a genetic program of development and functioning of living organisms.
The structure was discovered in 1953. The scientists Francis Crick, James Uoton and Maurice Wilkins received the Nobel Prize "for their discoveries concerning the molecular structure of nucleic acids and its significance for information transfer in living systems. "
5)Polonium and radium, 1911 The Curies found that the uranium ore waste is more radioactive than uranium itself.
After several years of experiments, Pierre and Marie were able to identify two of the most radioactive elements: radium and polonium. The discovery was made in 1898.
