NIKOLAY FESHIN
Nikolay Feshin was born in Kazan on November 26, 1881 (according to the new style) in a family of the carver of iconostases.
In fourteen years he arrived to the Kazan art school where he studied till 1900. In 1901 according to the recommendation of the school he was admitted to the Academy of Arts in Petersburg, in Repin workshop which he graduated in 1909.
The Competitive program work "White butterfly" brought Nikolay Feshin the rank of the artist and the right to a retiree trip abroad.
In Nikolay Feshin's painting of the 1900 th years the impressionism dominated. His pictures were dynamic, colourful and realistic. As an example of such works can serve «Cheremissky wedding» (1908), (sold by the American museum in 2011 at the auction to the unknown for 3, 3 million dollars) …
…and "Douche" (1911), presented in the Museum of the fine arts of the Republic of Tatarstan in Kazan.
Since 1910 the artist regularly participated in the international exhibitions in Europe and the USA. In 1913 he married Alexander Belkovich, the daughter of the director of the Kazan art school, in 1914 they gave birth to daughter Iya.
The portrait of Misha Bardukov. 1914 It was supposed to become a great picture, however, there occurred an incident. During the second visit to the artist Misha told , that his mother said impartially about Feshin’s appearance. Embarrassed, the woman never again led the son to the artist.

Oil, canvas; Private collection, USA; The portrait of Mademoiselle Zhirmond is one of the most brilliant in the painterly technique of the portraits by N. I. Feshin. Unfortunately, we know only that Zhirmond was a student of the Kazan Art School. With the departure of Russia N. I. Feshin took with him 79 works and «The portrait Mademoiselle Zhirmond» was among them.
In 1931 Feshin obtained the American nationality.
In the late thirties Feshin began to travel across Mexico, Japan and Indonesia, rented studio in Pasadena, then in 1947 finally moved to Santa Monica.
Nikolay Feshin in Santa Monica (nowadays the suburb of Los Angeles) died on October 5, 1955 in a dream.
His only daughter Ii Nikolaevna Feshina. Brenkham (1914 — 2002) reburied his ashes in Kazan in 1976.
