Experimental Hall Extention project Creation of ~7, 500 sqm of « golden slab » , for nano-experiments. Possibility to extend up to 13 beamlines at 110 m/120 m. Creation of 1 LOB with ~4, 000 sqm of labs, offices, multi-purpose areas… Satellite buildings for « extra long beamlines » (to enable a length of 150/250 m instead of 110 m) Future extension possibilities are kept for labs, partnerships, … May 13 rd 2009 11 TANGO collaboration 28 th April 09 E. EX 2 project: timescale 2009: – June 2009: Council will be invited to approve the recommendation to place a contract with architect compagny – July 2009: start of the detailed design studies, 2010: – Validation of the design reports and call for tender to be launched for the building companies – March 2011: start of works 2011: – Building works – Mid 2011: Shutdown of the facilities (3 to 4 months to be confirmed), to allow the main excavation works, networks rerouting and slab creation… (which will produce vibration, dust, services cut-off…) 2012: – Around mid 2012: full commissioning of the buildings, extension of the beamlines can start… May 13 rd 2009 13 TANGO collaboration 28 th April 09 E. Development of the joint site ILL/ESRF « Project Contract State-Region - CPER » • October 08: signature of the « Site Contract » by the local authorities, particularly for the Large Scale Facilities (ESRF and ILL) for a total amount of 15 M€: • 2009: An additional budget could be added to build IBS 2 The main objective is to develop partnership facilities and site visibility: • to develop ambitious research programmes in collaboration with external users of the highest scientific excellence • to improve the on-site science support to users • to boost the academic programme by better opportunities (Ph.
