New Year is considered to be a family holiday. Everybody likes New Year very much. ItNew Year is considered to be a family holiday. Everybody likes New Year very much. It is especially loved by little children. People do not go to work on that day, and children do not go to school. It is usually celebrated at home among the members of the family.

New Year tree People decorate their houses and usually have a fir-tree which stands in theNew Year tree People decorate their houses and usually have a fir-tree which stands in the corner of the room. The presents are usually put under the New Year tree.

At this time people are sitting at the tables to their holiday dinner and enjoy it in a good company.

Christmas is celebrated on December, 25(for catholic people) and January, 7 (for orthodox people).  KolyadyChristmas is celebrated on December, 25(for catholic people) and January, 7 (for orthodox people). Kolyady is a part of Christmas in Belarus. During it groups of merry young boys and girls in smart clothes go from house to house. Hosts and hostesses usually treat them with delicious things and thank them for well-wishing and carol-singing.
