Who is Gerald W. “Jerry” Williams? • Native of Eugene, Oregon • Degrees from SOU; Ph. D. in sociology from WSU • USFS, 1979 -2005 – Sociologist for the Umpqua National Forest (1979 -1993), Willamette National Forest (1984 -1992), Pacific Northwest Regional Office (1993 -1998) – National Historian, USFS headquarters in D. C. , 1998 -2005 • Author of more than 34 books, articles and other publications • Collector – Longtime collector of historic photography, especially timber related imagery – Book collector, much of which supported his research and writing
