National Driver Register • National Driver Register (NDR) is a mission critical system • • Database of information, provided by the States, on individuals who have been revoked, suspended, canceled or denied or who have been convicted of serious traffic-related offenses The NDR system is used by: State Driver Licensing Officials -Identify problem drivers -Check driver records during licensing decision process FAA, FRA, USCG -Check driver records for certification Commercial Transportation Employers -Check driver records in order to make hiring decisions National Center for Statistics & Analysis June 2011 2
How the PDPS Works 1. Maryland sends an inquiry. 4. Virginia sends driver license status to Maryland. 2. NDR searches its database and responds with the S P number of matches. PD 3 b. If a match is found, NDR sends a request to Virginia to send the driver license status to Maryland. 3 a. If no match is found, NDR notifies the state. Process is complete.
