Pyatigorsk is situated at the slopes of mount Mashuk. The name of the town means «Five mountains town»

On the slopes of Mashuk there are many monuments connected with different events. There are many Lermontov paths in Pyatigorsk, but one of them leads to the place of the duel of M. V. Lermontov

Lermontov house • In this house, MV. Lermontov lived during the last 2 months of his life and wrote his last poems. Since June 7, 1973, there was opened the State Museum devoted to his memory.

Lermontov gallery was opened in 1901, in honour of the 60 th anniversary of the writer’s death. Now Lermontov Gallery is a philharmonic society.

Aeolian harp Named after the ancient Greek god Aeolus, lord of the winds, melodic sounds are heard under the influence of the wind. Now the harp is equipped with an electro- musical instrument

The health resort provides unique medical resources, and its underground wealth supplies 50 different mineral springs of 5 types. Pyatigorsk is famous for its mineral waters and a lot of people come here to drink, bathe and relax in mineral waters and recover their health.

Pirogov baths The building of the hospital Pirogov baths was built in 1914. A lot of people come here to treat their health.
