MY FINLAND TRIP
2 ARE YOU READY? The tour of my amazing experience in Finland is starting. Host family Language Hobbies Habits Food Landscape Weather
WEATHER Finnish weather is very cold and snowy in Winter, but I was in Finland in Autumn, so I didn’t see the snow. I think that Finnish people are very crazy when we wore scarves, caps and gloves they wore only (and not always) caps. In Italy the weather is very different, so I was cold but they weren’t! They also swim in the lake during Autumn, it’s crazy, I know, but for Finnish people Autumn is like our Spring.
LANDSCASPE Here we can see the «Finnish paradise» One of the most beauful things in Finland is the landscape. Last day, me and my host family visited this amazing place. It was very exciting To see it!!
FOO D The first dinner in Finland wasn’t very good because I HATE Finnish food! We ate their traditional rice called «porridge» , but I didn’t like it. Their food is a lot different from ours. Every day they eat fish and drink milk for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a break. I love milk but that wasn’t very good. But I liked their soup (that is fantastic!!) however I think our food is the best in the world!
HABITS When I arrived in my host family’s house the guys put their shoes in a big shoe rack. In fact they don’t use shoes in the house, office or school. They also use to have in each house a sauna, it is amazing! I’ve done it with my host family and other Romanian children. Later we swam in the Finnish lake…brrrrrr There is a trampoline in each house and often they have big houses with a big garden like our host house. Last but not least, they go to school with bycicle because there aren’t a lot of cars, they also use an helmet on the bike. But the bycicles have a strange way of curbing.
HOBBIES Children in Finland have a lot of hobbies maybe because the school rarely gives homework. The children from my host family for example do gymnastic, play the piano and the saxophone, or sing, etc…. In their free time they meet always their friends and they watch films together. They LOVE horror films so when I was there everybody saw a film called Annabelle (my Italian friend Gaetano too)and I instead read my fantastic book!
LANGUAGE It can be strange but in every zone there is a different first language. In fact Finnish people talk 3 languages: Finnish(of course), Suami and English. In our host city, for example, talks: 1 SUAMI/ SWEDISH 2 FINNISH 3 ENGLISH In fact their first language is Swedish!
HOST FAMILY And this is my host family! Finnish families are very numerous! In mine there were 5 kids: Vieno, Lucas, Oscar, Edvin and Vincent. I slept with Vieno, she is a good friend and we sometimes chat by whatsapp. I felt very good in this family and everybody were adorable! I hope, one day, I can see them again because they are fantastic!
My experience was amazing and I’ll remember forevery day and every moment in Finland because it was special.
Thanks for the attention Michelle Mottolese, 3 B
