MY FAVOURITE BOOK By LAVRENTIEVA IRINA

LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF My name is Irina. I am ten. I live in Kotelniky, but I study in Lyubertsy, at school number forty-four. I am good at reading. I am interested in different school subjects such as Russian, Literature and English. I go in for sports and every day I play basketball.

I like reading in English. And this year I have read the book «THE MAGIC OF OZ» .

«The Magic of Oz» was written by Lyman Frank Baum. He wrote this book in 1900. But in Russia the story was published only in 1983. LYMAN FRANK BAUM

The plot of this story is well-known to Russian people because Alexander Volkov retold it to us with some changes.

THE PLOT OF THE STORY Dorothy is a little girl who lives with her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry in a small house, in Kansas prairie.

After a cyclone transports her and her dog Toto to the Land of Oz, she must seek out the Emerald City, where the Great Wizard lives. Dorothy has to do it in order to return at home.

THE MAIN CHARACTERS On her way to the Emerald City Dorothy finds many friends such as the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman and the Cowardly Lion.

Each of them has a dream: the Scarecrow wants to have brains, the Tin Woodman wants to get a heart, the Cowardly Lion wants to be brave The Scarecrow The Tin Woodman The Cowardly Lion

To achieve their aims the friends have to find the Emerald City and the Wizard of Oz. Because only he (how they consider) can fulfill their wishes.

I recommend you to read this book, which is full of adventures. And you will know how to overcome the difficulties, how Dorothy and her friends do it.

THE MESSAGE OF THE BOOK. There aren`t any miracles and magic, there aren`t any wizards and emeralds cities! There is only YOU, who can fulfill your own wish! DREAM!!! And your dreams will come true!!! DON`T GIVE UP!!!
