MUSIC IN OUR LIFE It is difficult to live without music. We hear music everywhere: in the streets, at home, over the radio and on TV, in the shops, in the parks and in the concert halls, at the seaside. We can't live without music. We like to listen to music, we enjoy to dance to music, we play musical instruments. A music lesson is one of the favourite subjects at school. The teacher of music tells the pupils about famous composers and teaches them to sing songs. Pupils prepare concerts for school holidays, learn new songs, play different musical instruments. Some people are interested in music very much. Children can learn at music schools if they are capable and fond of music. They study there for seven years Music is a combination of many sounds. It reflects our mood and emotions. There are numerous folk groups in our country. It is interesting to listen to their music and songs.

Both classical and modern music are popular in our country. My friend Mike and I are fond of classical music. Sometimes we spend our free time, listening to music by Wolfgang Mozart and other composers. His "Fourth Symphony" and the "Sixth Symphony" by Shostakovich impressed us very much. Nowadays young people prefer modern music. If you want to listen to modern music you can attend the music halls and the concerts of popular groups and singers. I like to listen to the songs by our popular singers Julian, Alla Pugacheva and Valery Leontyev. They are talented and skilled singers and composers and I like to visit their concerts. My friends and I buy tickets beforehand often take flowers for our favourite singers. As to foreign songs I prefer to listen to Adriano Chelentano. He is an Italian ginger and actor. He is popular not only in his native land but also in other countries.

MUSIC? WOULD A MOVIE BE SUCCESSFUL WITHOUT MUSIC? I THINK NOT. MUSIC HAS A LOT TO DO WITH HOW THE FILM DIRECTOR WOULD LIKE YOU TO INTERPRET A SPECIFIC SEEN. A GOOD EXAMPLE WOULD BE TO WATCH AND MOVIE, PREFERABLY A SCARY ONE, AND TURN OFF THE VOLUME IN A SCARY SCENE. MORE THAN LIKELY YOU WILL NOT BE AS SCARED AS YOU WOULD IF THE VOLUME IS ON. MUSIC IS SUCH A VITAL ROLE IN MOVIES THAT IT WOULD BE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO PULL OF AN OSCAR WINNER WITHOUT A MUSIC SCORE.

A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO CANNOT PLAY ANY MUSICAL INSTRUMENT LOVE TO LISTEN TO MUSIC EITHER AT HOME OR AT A CON-CERT. DIFFERENT PEOPLE LIKE DIFFERENT KINDS OF MUSIC. YOU MAY PREFER POP OR ROCK MUSIC, COUNTRY OR FOLK MUSIC, CLASSICAL MUSIC OR JAZZ, BUT YOU CERTAINLY CANNOT THINK OF A DAY WITHOUT MUSIC.

As for me, I prefer. . . music. I have a lot of cassettes (CDs, records). I try to watch all the programmes dealing with it on TV and to go to the concerts as often as possible. My favourite composer (singer, musician) is. . . I think he (she) is very talented. I can (not) play an instrument (the piano, the guitar, the violin). It is a great pleasure to be able to play an instrument and I like it a lot.

The role of art in our life. Art is an all embracing notion music, painting, theatre, literature and so on. Art had the most important role in the development of the mankind. The first were found on walls of ancient caves. So we can guess that painting was the first way of art. Painting is the most understandable way of art, because it gives us the most full and vivid impression. Seneka once said All art is bur imitation of nature.

THE LANGUAGE OF ART IS UNIVERSAL. EVERYBODY, IN SPITE OF AGE, NATIONALITY, OCCUPATION UNDERSTANDS WHAT IS SAID BY THE PAINTER. ART GIVES PEOPLE A POSSIBILITY TO EXPRESS OURSELVES AND TO BECOME FAMOUS. BUT I DON T THINK THAT EVERY PAINTER BECOMES FAMOUS. ONLY TALENTED, GENIUS PEOPLE LIKE DA VINCI, RAPHAEL AND OTHERS CAN CREATE GREAT, ETERNAL ART, REAL MASTERPIECES. ART IS GREAT ONLY IF IT HAS LINKS WITH PEOPLE S LIVES, INTERESTS, IDEALS.

CULTURE IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT COMPONENTS, WHICH FORM EVERY NATION. IT IS ONE OCCURRENCE THAT DISTINGUISHES AND UNITES ALL THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE WORLD. BUT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO IMAGINE THE CULTURE WITHOUT MUSIC, A VERY BIG PART OF OUR LIFE.

ELSE POSSIBLE. THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT TYPES AND STYLES OF MUSIC SUCH AS: ROCK AND ROLL, CLASSICAL, RAP, HARDCORE, CHRISTIAN, JAZZ, REGGAE, COUNTRY, AND THE LIST GOES ON. EACH PERSON HAS HIS OR HER OWN LIKES AND DISLIKES OF MUSIC THAT THEY ENJOY. LISTENING TO THE LYRICS, THOUGH, IT IS INTERESTING TO HEAR WHAT MUSICIANS ARE ACTUALLY SAYING. SOME ARTISTS USE LYRICS IN THEIR SONGS TO EXPRESS EXPLICIT MESSAGES OR TO MAKE PEOPLE THINK. OTHER ARTISTS WANT TO INSPIRE PEOPLE, WHILE OTHERS ARE JUST RELAXING. THE TYPE OF MUSIC PEOPLE LISTEN TO ARE PERSONAL OPINIONS, BUT THE LYRICS CAN HAVE SURPRISING EFFECTS. IT IS NOT JUST THE LYRICS THAT AFFECT PEOPLE, BUT THE WAY BANDS OR MUSICIANS PERFORM, THE VIDEOS THEY MAKE, AND THE WAY THEY ACT IN PUBLIC. IF A BAND SINGS ABOUT DEATH AND ACTS IT OUT ON STAGE, FANS MAY BEGIN TO ACT LIKE THAT TOO. THE WAY THE BAND ACTS AND WHAT THEY SAY CAN INFLUENCE PEOPLE MORE THAN THEY THINK.
