Philosophy Technology can “level” the learning curve for all students no matter their economic background l Technology is a fact of today’s society. Students cannot escape it so schools should help them learn how to use it to their best advantage l Technology needs to be incorporated into ALL curriculum areas so students are exposed to the many areas it can be used l
Philosophy cont. All students deserve a well-rounded education l Network Coordinators/technology integrationists should be leaders in their districts—helping design technological professional development and helping teachers incorporate that professional development into their curriculum l
Philosophy cont. Most students remember more when allowed to learn an objective through hands-on projects l Understanding student learning styles helps teachers decide the best way to “teach” an objective l
Themes l Network and Network Administration l Leadership l Instruction

Instruction l Develop ways to help JH/HS staff utilize Web. CT l Design and teach technological professional development l Show by example how technology can be incorporated into individual curriculum l Keep updated on current classroom trends dealing with technology
Thoughts & Concerns l I actually did it! l I am amazed at how hard it was to get back into the “student” role l Knowing “where” and “how” to get the answer is more important than “knowing” the answer. l My goals are big—especially for this summer— and I need to remember to keep the “goal” in mind while I am dealing with the “details”
Concerns and Thanks l Money was a concern—I worked hard to complete this degree without taking out a single loan. Took me an extra year, but I got it done!! l The order of classes should be considered when making the student’s schedule. EX. APA & programming class should be one of the so this information can be utilized throughout the whole program l DSU staff was always willing to go the extra mile to help me l The MSET program helped me meet new colleagues and friends as well as reconnecting with past acquaintances
Thanks & Thoughts l Thanks to my family for their unbelievable support of mom/ grandma going back to school l Thanks to my fellow teachers for all their understanding when I have asked them to “help” me by incorporating technology for one of their assignments so I could complete one of my assignments. l I need to find some hobbies to take up all the time classes have been consuming l I need to work hard to help my staff see how technology can enhance their curriculum, not add more work. l This summer and next year will be a huge challenge— incorporating 1: 1 at the elementary, moving the “old” laptops to the elementary and keeping them running as well as purchasing new laptops to grades 7 -12.
