Our Goals · To give your children the academic and social skills they need to progress to the third grade. · To provide a supportive and fun classroom environment. · To help your children make new friends and discover new interests.

Reading Workshop · Children read books on their level. · Children are working on reading strategies just right for them.
Learning Stations • Leaning Stations are integrated based on our topic of study • Children work in small groups of mixed ages
· Whole and small groups Monday through Thursday · Small groups and games on Friday
Writing Workshop · The children write daily on topics of their choice within our units of study. · We confer and edit with them. · They publish and share their writing.
Recess/Lunch · We go to lunch around 11: 30 and have recess at 11: 55.
Special Areas · Monday – PE Spanish · Tuesday - Art · Wed. - Art · Thurs. – Computer/ Library · Friday - Drama
Word Work · We will work by Grade Levels and in our own classes. · The “first graders” will have a list of high frequency words that they need to know. · The older children will need to know how to spell the high frequency words for second grade.
Free Choice Centers · Every day but Monday the children have time at the end of the day to choose what they want to do during center time. · This is their favorite time of day.
