Meet the Teacher Who is Mrs. Bell? • • • • • She LOVES the color PINK! She's been married for 17 years to Andre. She has two children, Jasmine (19) and A. J. (17). Her favorite food is macaroni and cheese. She loves to be near the ocean or beach. She loves warm weather. She’s been teaching for 11 years. Attended JCU for 4 years and graduated cum lade from CSU. She was born and raised in Cleveland. Has one brother and one sister and is the younger sibling. Collects Barbie Dolls. She loves anything that sparkles! She loves reality television. Her favorite candy is Reese Cups. She likes to drink coffee. She loves a FABULOUS shoe! Her Favorite entertainers are Beyoncé and Michael Jackson. She’s addicted to sugarless gum. She must chew gum 24/7. She loves to dance all night long.

Reading This year in reading we will learn: Treasures Reading Program • • • I can ask and answer questions about text. I can retell stories I have read. I can identify characters, setting, & details in a story. I can participate in group reading activities. I can follow words from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page. I know all upper and lower case letters of the alphabet. I can decode words. I know my letter sounds. I can read words by sight. I can read books on my own.
Math This year in math we will learn: Everyday Math Program • • • I can count to 100 by 1’s and 10’s. I can count starting at any number. I can write numbers 0 to 20. I can count 20 things. I can add and subtract within 10 by drawing or using objects to solve. I can add and subtract within 5 fluently. I can add any number from 1 -9 to make 10. I can sort objects into categories. I can name shapes. I can tell how many tens and ones are in a number. I know some objects are 2 -D and flat or 3 -D and solid. I can tell you which is more or less.
Writing This year in writing we will learn: • I can write my upper and lower case letters. • I can use spelling, punctuation and capitalization when writing. • I can capitalize the word I and the first word in a sentence. • I can write a letter for each sound. • I can kid spell words writing the sounds I hear.
Science This year in science we will learn: • • Describe day to day weather changes. Explore the difference between living and non-living things. Understand that the sun can be seen only in the daytime, but that the moon can be seen sometimes at night and sometimes during the day. Describe how plants and animals usually resemble their parents. Demonstrate that objects are made of parts. Describe and sort objects by one or more properties. Explore that some materials can be used over and over again.
Social Studies This year in social studies we will learn: • • Recite the days of the week. Understand the difference between yesterday, today and tomorrow. Recognize state and federal holidays and know why we celebrate them. Make models and maps that represent real places such as the classroom. Recite home address. Recognize symbols of the United States including the national flag and the Pledge of Allegiance. Be able to tell the purpose for having rules and how they provide order, security and safely in the home, school and community.

Special Classes Students will visit six special classes each week. Our schedule is as follows: Monday – Library Tuesday – P. E. Wednesday – Math Lab Thursday – Art Friday – Math Lab * On P. E. days please make sure your child wears tennis shoes. If they do not wear tennis shoes, they will have to sit out of P. E. and this does effect their grade.
