Mira. Costa College’s 2009 Field Evidence Technician Course P. O. S. T. Certified Plan IV Mira. Costa’s F. E. T. course is a 2 -week course which is taught by instructors known locally and, in some cases, nationally as being experts in their respective fields. The course is very hands-on and designed to assist the investigator in the identification, collection, and preservation of physical evidence featuring the latest techniques. It is a basic course for the patrol officer who is contemplating becoming an investigator for his/her department and is open to all students having a basic P. O. S. T. certificate as well as those currently employed as evidence technicians for law enforcement agencies. In addition to a certificate of competence, 1. 5 units of college credit may be earned (ADM 915). One (1) 50~60 mm Macro lens. One (1) flash unit with a 3’~5’ sync cord. One (1) cable release. One (1) tripod. One (1) flashlight. Four (4) rolls of film (100, 200 or 400 ISO) (24 – 36 exposure) 12 exposure film not acceptable. - OR - Digital Camera Users: addition to the In above requirements you need to bring two (2) memory cards. One (1) USB flash drive approx 2 GB. One (1) camera battery re-charging cord. Batteries: The camera section is three (3) days long including a night session, plus one practical exercise day.
