Odontodes • Odontodes, the ancestors of teeth, looked like placoid scales of recent sharks. Odontodes consisted of a dentine cone with a pulp cavity and covered by a hypermineralized tissue like enamel or enameloid. They were attached to the integument by a bony base.

• Enamel. Enamel matrix is homogeneous and is highly mineralized (up to 96% inorganic for mammalian teeth; with no collagen or embedded cells. • Proteins: Аmelogenin (90%), with a limited amount of enamelin, ameloblastin, tuftelin, and traces of other components.
• Dentine is a collagen-rich, well- mineralized tissue produced by odontoblasts, and characteristic of teeth and tooth-related organs. • Mature dentine is 75% inorganic, 20% organic, and 5% liquid
• Cementum – Cementum is a nonvascular tussue. Cementum is rich in collagen fibers and is softer than dentine. • • • Клеточный цемент состоит из: цементоцитов; цементобластов; межклеточного вещества. Ganoine • Ganoine is a shiny, acellular, non-collagenous, hypermineralized tissue (95% nonorganic matrix) of epidermal origin that covers the ganoid scales • The organic matrix of ganoine is similarly deposited and structurally comparable to enamel, including the incorporation of amelogenin • Uniquely, mature ganoine is arranged in multiple layers (stratified) and is always covered by epidermis (i. e. it is never exposed to the external environment, unlike tooth enamel;
