Migration in China The biggest mass migration in the history of the world is under way in China, and it is creating what some are calling the second industrial revolution.
Chinese people move
From rural to urban. And the demand for these new apartments, office blocks and skyscrapers is coming from China's rural masses - people intent on heading to the cities along the eastern coastline of the country.
. 345 million people in China will move from rural to urban areas in the next 25 years — a mass migration larger and faster than any in history.
When China implemented economic reforms intended to liberalize and boost the economy, the country has seen a rapid, massive urbanization.
The problem of too-rapid urbanization was exacerbated by the agricultural responsibility system, which forced a reallocation of labor and left many agricultural workers unemployed.
They move by train
Migration can be quite difficult. On the positive side, migration can offer chinese people new opportunities, better economic conditions, safer political conditions and it can help them feel safe and secure. On the negative side, in the case of forced migration (such as in the slavery or human trafficking trades), people's lives take a huge negative dive and living conditions and personal freedoms can disintegrate.
