• …Discussion – Resolved to build two “ 2 MW” circuits • NF bunch rotation test circuit (88 MHz) • Old circuit rebuilt to “ 2 MW” – 1 MW in Cavity ≈ 1. 25 MW in the amplifier • “Old circuit” was limited to 1. 8 MW – Output coupling redesign – Expect to obtain up to 2. 8 MW with TH 170 tube. • Conclusion: – CERN will build two “ 2 MW” power amplifiers paul drumm, 19 th May 2004 5

Timeline… • Daresbury – Strip down and assess LBNL amplifiers – Recondition LBNL circuits – Develop Test stand 2004 2005/6 • CERN – Rebuild 88 MHz circuit back to 201 MHz – Rebuild “old” circuit 2005/6 • MICE – stage V – 4 amplifiers & 4 Cavities – ISIS old ISIS tubes close to 2 MW per cavity… – Purchase TH 116 tubes; above 2 MW per cavity 2007? • MICE – stage VI – 4 amplifiers & 8 Cavities – ISIS old ISIS tubes close to 1 MW per cavity… – TH 116 tubes; above 1 MW per cavity paul drumm, 19 th May 2004 7
