The Global Patient Movement Requirements Center provides medical regulating and aero medical evacuation scheduling for the continental United States and inter theater operations and provides support to theater patient movement requirements centers. The joint patient movement requirements center also generates subordinate joint force commander (JFC) plans and schedules to evacuate the subordinate JFC's patients to medical treatment facilities in accordance with the supported combatant commander's Theater Patient Movement Requirements Center theater plans and schedules for movement of the patient to the Medical Treatment Facility.

The functions of the TPMRC include: consolidating requests for transfers to CONUS facilities and maintaining direct liaison with the GPMRC, MROs of component services, and transportation agencies which furnish evacuation transportation. Additionally, the TPMRC will obtain periodic reports of available beds from the MROs of services providing hospitalization, and based on reported bed availability, select medical centers or hospitals to receive patients. The TPMRC will be formed only when more than one service provides hospitalization in theater of operations
