Marvel Comics is an American company that publishes comic books and related media. Marvel started in 1939 as Timely Publications, and by the early 1950 s had generally become known as Atlas Comics. Marvel's modern incarnation dates from 1961, the year that the company launched Fantastic Four and other superhero titles created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and others. Marvel counts among its characters such well-known properties as Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Captain America and Daredevil; Most of Marvel's fictional characters operate in a single reality known as the Marvel Universe.

Spider-man

Peter Parker was raising by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben. He was bitten by spider and then he got a super strength and agility, the ability to cling to most surfaces, shoot spider-webs and react to danger quickly with his "spider-sense“.

Captain America

Captain America is a superhero. He is the alter ego of Steve Rogers, a frail young man who was enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum in order to aid the United States' war effort.

The Hulk

He is a mutated monster with incredible strength and an inability to control his rage. He is an alter ego of physicist Dr. Bruce Banner first transforms into the Hulk after he exposed to the blast of a bomb he invented. Banner transforms into the Hulk when he is too angry. His main catchphrase is: "HULK SMASH!"

Wolverine

Wolverine is a mutant who possesses animal senses, enhanced physical capabilities and a healing factor that allows him to recover from any wound. He has the adamantium skeleton and three retracting claws.

Cyclops

Cyclops is one of the X-Men. His real name is Scott Summers. Cyclops emits a powerful energy beam from his eyes and wears ruby-quartz lens running eye-to-eye. He has great leadership, tactical and strategic abilities.

Iron man

Tony Stark is a billionaire, playboy, industrialist and engineer, he suffers a chest injury. He was kidnapped, and captors force him to build a weapon of mass destruction. Instead he creates a powered suit of armor to save his life and escape. Later he uses the suit to protect the world as Iron Man.

Thor

Thor's native planet is Asgard. Once his father gave him Mjolnir - the hammer with a special magic. With the help of the hammer Thor saved Asgard from the greatest war. Thor is very stubborn, proud and rather selfish hero.

Deadpool

Deadpool (Wade Wilson) well known for his jokes and black humor. Deadpool was subjected to experiments in which scientists have tried to cure his cancer, instilling his cell regeneration ability. After that Deadpool became disfigured and mentally unstable.

Ghost Rider

The real name of Ghost Rider is Johnny Blaze. He sold his soul to a demon, which gave Johnny the power. When Blaze uses this power, he becomes a flaming skull and has super abilities, such as regeneration and punishing gaze.

In Russia comics (including Marvel Comics) are not so popular like in the USA, but I’m sure that most of you have heard about some Marvel heroes before. There are many films and cartoons which were based on the Marvel comics. There are some pluses and minuses of comics: • • + Develop imagination Teach us to be brave Give pleasure Educate small kids. – • Can develop cruelty • Replaces the human reality and it can badly influence mental and social development.
