Early school of psychology • Maria Montessori is considered the precursor of the constructivist approach developed later by Piaget and Vygotsky. • It is based on ideas of respect for children and their amazing ability to learn. The child has within it the pattern of their own development, the child develops freely when this internal pattern runs his own growth. • • • The happiness of the child should be considered an indicator of successes of the education system. She designed a comprehensive and integrated program covering all thematic areas. She first became interested in the education of children with mental retardation. She worked in a psychiatric clinic where she used a scientific approach to education.
