Mall Of America Parking With the high rate of attacks on women in secluded parking lots, especially during evening hours, the Minneapolis City Council has established a “Women Only” parking lot at the Mall of America. Even the parking lot attendants are exclusively female so that a comfortable and safe environment is created for patrons. Next is the first picture available of this world-first women-only parking lot in Minnesota.
INTERVIEW AND INTERROGATION TECHNIQUES
Statement Analysis follows two-step process: 1. Determine what is typical of a truthful statement (referred to as the norm) 2. Look for any deviation from this norm
The following statement typifies the norm: “It happened Saturday night. I went out on my back deck to water the plants. It was almost dark. A man ran out of the bushes. He came onto the deck, grabbed me and knocked me down” The next statement shows a deviation from the norm: “It happened Saturday night. I went out on my back deck to water the plants. It was almost dark. A man runs out of the bushes. He comes onto the deck, grabs me and knocks me down.
Susan Smith tearfully told reporters, “My children wanted me. They needed me. And now I can’t help them” David Smith told the same reporters, “ They’re okay. They’re going to be home soon. ”

During that hour, he hit me repeatedly on the right side of my face. When we got to the exit, I told him we had no gas. He got mad and told me to get off at the exit. We went straight off the exit for about four or five miles. He told to turn down the first street on my left. We went down it about 1/4 mile and he told me to stop. He opened the door, put both feet out, hit me, and took off walking quickly. He took off to the east of where I was parked. After that, I took off and lost sight of him.

This is an excerpt from a written statement by a person whose home burned to the ground. “I left my house right after breakfast to join my friends at the track for the day. I drove back to my house, made a few phone calls, then went out to dinner with Stan Thomas. Stan dropped me off at my house around 10: 00. After I changed clothes, I left the house to spend the night at my cousin Tom’s house down the street. Around midnight we heard fire engines and got up to see what was going on. ”

In a statement written by a suspect in a homicide investigation, a significant change in noun usage occurred. A young man shot his wife in the face with a shotgun. The woman died instantly and the husband claimed the shooting was accidental. Investigators asked the man to write a statement of the events that occurred during the day of the shooting. The husband wrote a detailed statement, using the noun “wife” seven times to refer to his wife. He then wrote: “…. . . I lost control of the gun. I sensed that the barrel was pointing in Louise’s direction and I reacted by grabbing at the gun to get it back under control. When I did this, the gun discharged. It went off once and I looked over and saw blood on Louise’s face. ”
On July 18 th, 1969, at approximately 11: 15 p. m. , in Chappaquiddick, Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, I was driving my car on Main street on my way back to get the ferry to Edgertown. I was unfamiliar with the road and turned right onto Dike road, instead of bearing a hard left on Main street. After proceeding for approximately 1/2 mile on Dike road, I descended a hill and came upon a narrow bridge. The car went off the side of the bridge. There was one passenger with me, one Miss Mary Jo Kopecnek, a former secretary of my brother Senator Robert Kennedy. The car turned over and sank into the water and landed with the roof resting on the bottom. I attempted to open the door and the window of the car but have no recollection of how I got out of the car. I came to the surface and repeatedly dove down to the car in an attempt to see if the passenger was still in the car. I was unsuccessful in the attempt. I recall walking back to where my friends were eating. There was a car parked in front of the cottage and I climbed into the back seat. I then asked for someone to bring me back to Edgertown. I remember walking around for a period of time and then going back to my hotel room. When I fully realized what had happened this morning, I immediately contacted the police.
Mr. Peters, in regards to our meeting on Dec. 12 th at 4: 00 in the afternoon. I met you regarding several accusations from Sherman Elementary regarding my actions on Dec. 6 th when I substituted for Ms. Tucker’s class (third grade). It was reported that I took some money from a closet. The only time I was in Ms. Tucker’s closet was when I was looking for a tape that went with her movie routine. I even asked a couple of teachers if they knew of the tape and they said no. I finally found the tape under a stack of papers on her desk, the morning went fine. I had a city Pear volunteer by the name of Ken help me with the lessons and the routine. If I touched a child, it was on their shoulder and I used it to get their attention back on task. I never touched unless the child initiates it then I shake hands and that is all. Ken saw my interactions with the class up until lunch time. It was also brought to my attention that I verbally threatened the class. I do not know where they are coming from. I left the day feeling that I had, and so did the children, a good day. Of all my years teaching the allegation hurts. I watch myself closely just because I am a male teacher and things can be misinterpreted. I’m trying really hard to become a full time employee with this organization. Why, then would I do such horrendous things? Please, I am willing to work and find a happy medium and the truth.
