Eilean Donan u So, our first route is to the island Donan in the lake Loch Duich. In the middle of the lake you’ll see one of the most visited and famous castles of Scotland, Eilean Donan.
History of Eilean Donan u They say it was built in the twelfth century by Alexander II. The walls of the castle sometimes reached up to 14 metres in width. That’s why Eilean Donan provided a strong defensive position against Norse invasion.
