The students are required to do extensive class work and rigorous reference work to match the competitive environment. They also use the institute’s vast collection of videos & CDs. The institute subscribes to 109 periodicals, including 16 international journals.
personality development & student counseling Personality Development programs are held to help the students fine tune their soft skills. The students are exposed to soft skill training including various out bound activities and one to one personal counseling. This helps the student to add quality to the personality, which will in turn enhance their performance. guest lectures Eminent Persons from the industry are invited to the institute to share their views & experiences in the fields in which they excel, so as to help students to have a better understanding of the corporate world.
PERCEPTION c 0 -curricular activities Perception is an annual management and cultural extravaganza that is conducted by our Institute, with over 50 premier Management Institutes from in and around Bangalore, participating with utmost vigor in various management and cultural event, to finally take away the coveted overall championship trophy. With over a dozen sponsors encouraging the competition, the three day event is lit with celebration, creativity and a must see war of intellect. management seminars The students along with the faculty incharge select a theme and work on identifying some of the best speakers from the corporate world to interact with the students. Some of the topics that were handled this year were “Awareness of Commodity Market, Budget Analysis and Entrepreneurship Development Programme”. inter-house competitions The students are divided into four groups comprising 120 students each and competitions are held every Friday. These competitions help the students to hone their managerial skills and leadership ability. 11
convocation 2009 M S Ramaiah Institute has a 13 year old tradition of conducting a formal convocation ceremony for the graduating batch. Eminent personalities from various field of the corporate sector, academicians & management gurus adorn the function with their presence. This year, the MD & C. E. O of Titan Industries Ltd. , Mr. BHASKAR BHATT was the Chief Guest at our Thirteenth Annual Convocation.
GREEN RUN : A 9 km marathon was organized by M. S. Ramaiah Institute of Management, with the aim of propagating a Citizen Driven Green Revolution in Bangalore, several leading athletes like Ashwini Nachappa, Pankaj Advani, Nisha Millet, Asish Balal, Rehan, Shikha Tandon etc participated & the event was sponsored by ITC Ltd. 13
Projects Industrial Visits & Outbound Training All students visit manufacturing unit to understand the practical aspects of the work environment. The institute also organizes outbound training activities which help the student to work in team environment. This builds greater character, mental toughness and makes them better players 14
Projects Empirical Study: The “Empirical Study” commences at the beginning of the 3 rd Semester, when the students goes into the 2 nd year of his study, after completing his/her Summer Project. The Empirical Study is a detailed study of any Company or Industry and enables a student to apply the basic managerial concepts that have been taught in the first year, especially Research Methodology and the practical aspects that have been learnt during the 6 to 8 week Summer Project. This may be industry based and / or library based, depending upon availability of time and is evaluated by a panel of faculty members. Community Project: The community project tries to create a better awareness in the minds of students towards the problem faced by the society. NGOs like ‘Janagraha’ helps the students contribute towards the society they live in , during these community projects.
Projects Summer Internship Project (SIP) The students after their initiation to the basic principles of management through theoretical inputs in the first year are shifted to the practical world of corporate decision making in the Summer Internship Project (SIP). It is mandatory for all PGDBM students to complete a Summer Project (work with Industry ) for a period of 6 to 8 weeks & work on a Project, which is relevant to the company / Industry and is mutually decided by the company & the students. They are assigned specific work involving application of managerial concepts in a practical environment. This is done in co ordination with the companies concerned. During the internship period they will be working under the guidance of a senior executive of the company concerned, and their progress is monitored by an internal Faculty guide. Students are incessantly monitored and guided by the internal faculty relating theory and enabling its application in the industry thus making the experience relevant to the prospective work. At the end of the program, they are required to obtain a certificate from the company concerned as to the satisfactory completion of the work allotted to them. On return to the campus, they are required to submit a detailed report highlighting the conceptual application in their work as well as the degree of learning that they had. The summer projects are assessed by a board of examiner at the institute. The best Summer Internship Project Reports are short listed and The best report is rewarded with a Gold Medal at the time of the convocation Total No. of Students available for SIP: 240

Zation The Institute offers all the programmes with a Dual Specialization where the students are subjected to rigorous academic work, which has been divided into 4 semesters. Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) The PGDBM is a two year full time course, approved by AICTE, New Delhi. Master of Business Administration-Industry Integrated (Madurai Kamaraj University) This is an Industry Integrated program which involves highly interactive teaching sessions and diversified Internship experience. The programme is more application oriented and gives practical exposure to the students along with the classroom theoretical knowledge of business and industry. In this programme the student has to undergo on-the-job training from the 2 nd semester till the 4 th semester.
