The Louvre or the Louvre Museum is one of the world's largest museums and a historic monument. It`s located on the right bank of the Seine in the first arrondissement.
History The first mention of the Louvre dates from 1204 year. First it was the tower, but in 1317, King Francis first began collecting works of art in it. Creating a royal residence in the Louvre began in 1546. Construction work stopped by King Louis XIV, who moved the royal residence at Versailles.
