South Goa excursion (Half Day) Shantadurga Temple is a large temple at the foothill of Kavalem village in Ponda Taluka. A small laterite mud shrine was built and the deity was installed here. The mud-shrine was converted into a beautiful temple whose foundation stone was laid in 1730 and the temple was completed in 1738. Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa Construction work on the church began in 1594 and the church was consecrated in May 1605 by the archbishop, Dom Fr. Aleixo de Menezes.
