Necessary information and advice
PASSPORT • Check expiry date! VISA & WORK PERMIT • The Host Local Committee must provide all documents necessary for application. • The intern is responsible to provide all personal documents such as passport, academic letters, etc. • Contact the consular office of the country to be visited or your country’s embassy. • Start on time! Some countries’ visa processing may take up months.
Insurance and health • Consult a doctor to inquire about any necessary shots you may need • Start on time! Only 1 -2 shots can be done in the same day • Prepare a medical kit • International Association for Medical Assistance to Travelers
Insurance and health • Make sure you have adequate insurance to cover health and travel needs in case of an emergency • Check with your insurance provider to find out whether international coverage is provided • Be careful! Often overseas rates are different • Several bankcards offer insurance for a certain time
Flight booking • Once you have secured a TN, book a flight ASAP! • Check conditions in case you extend your internship • Do not buy the ticket till your visa/work permit is secured • You should arrive 5 -7 days before your first day of work • Check all possible travel methods, check travel planners • Check offers for students for trains, buses

Safety Precautions YOU should know: • Basic safety precautions as advised by the national government • Any relevant national government advice in relation to the destination • It is your responsibility to be aware of the laws of the destination country • You should refer to the country’s embassy or government website for travel specific information
Money • Make sure you have an adequate amount of money for your exchange especially in the first month • Carry some currency of the country to which you are going • Ask host LC about costs • Ask host LC about the possibility of opening a bank account, availability of ATMs, exchange offices
Clothes • Check what kind of clothes you will need for work • Look at the type of weather • Ask your host LC about cultural customs – especially for girls • Don’t leave packing to the last minute – there will be so many other things to do! • Check your max. luggage weight and weigh your luggage
Before departure • Leave time for goodbye parties and family meetings – you will be very busy in the end • Set your goals • Don’t leave everything for the last minute

Basic Policies • • • An internship can last for minimum 6 and maximum 78 weeks Internship programs are Global Internship and Global Community Development An intern may participate in several internships abroad for a maximum of 36 months
Your Rights • • Receive support and guidance from AIESEC throughout the exchange process; Receive education about the AIESEC internship program and AIESEC in general; Be provided with sufficient salary or non-monetary equivalent (food and accommodation) Be provided adequate and safe working conditions
Your Responsibilities § § Provide all required documentation and proof of your qualifications Submit your visa application Inform yourself about the host country and potential risks through independent research Have sufficient funds for transportation and first four weeks
AIESEC • • • Provides intern with support and contact throughout internship Provides intern with safe and reasonable options for accommodation Provides intern with pickup from the airport (unless arranged otherwise)
AIESEC • • • Provides assistance with practicalities such as registration, obtaining essential services, information about city and local neighborhood Provides intern with introduction to local AIESEC committee and events Accompanies intern on the first day of work, orientation to the work environment, expectation setting and performance -related feedback
Organization / Company • Expect that the intern fulfills responsibilities outlined in the job description • Provide adequate working conditions, guidance, and training • Provide sufficient salary or other non-monetary equivalent
Matching Policies • • • An intern receives support and guidance from an EP manager during matching An intern receives access to internships. aiesec. org to search for opportunities An intern may accept any TN form by uploading/sending an AN (Acceptance Note)
Matching Policies • • • Acceptance of TN form automatically means Intern wants his/her EP form to be shown to the Organization as a candidate that is guaranteed as available for particular internship while Acceptance Note is valid Acceptance is valid for 10 days Intern should hear about his/her suitability or next selection stages within 10 days of accepting a TN
Tips for a fast match • • • Be specific on what you want Send as many emails as possible Send customized emails Sell your qualities 2 meetings with the EP manager per week (in person, phone calls, skype) Answer the e-mails from the EP manager within 36 hours
What if something goes wrong You have the right to break a match if: a) Documents or visa are delayed, received too late, or not at all b) A family emergency c) You become very ill and the situation is dangerous for your health d) The area of the internship has become dangerous (i. e. war, natural disaster, terrorism, etc)
What if something goes wrong You have the right to end your internship if: a) The internship is completely different from the job description b) You are discriminated against or sexually harassed in the workplace c) Basic work conditions and benefits as agreed are not provided for one month d) You are not paid for two consecutive months (for GT)
