LIFE in the Spirit !!! What is LIFE…. ? ? ? 1. To fully understand LIFE – we need to look at what can stop/kill/destroy Life…!!! ( Joh 10: 10) 3. 4. THUS: Death is to stop living, or existing…stop breathing… H 4191: A Primitive Root; to die (literally or figuratively); causatively to kill: - X at all, X crying, (be) dead (body, 2. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Meaning: In order for something to Have Life – it first of all needs to exist… thus, to stop existing is to loose the life it had it is dead… man, one), (put to, worthy of) death, destroy (-er), (cause to, be like to, must) die, kill, … X must needs, slay, X surely, X very suddenly. . (eg: Gen 2: 17 – The result of eating from the Tree of Knowledge of good & evil ) H 4194: From 4191 - death (natural or violent); concretely the dead, their place or state (hades); figuratively pestilence, ruin: - (be) dead ([-ly]), death, die (-d). (eg: Gen 6: 17 – God’s word to Noah that He is going to send waters on the earth to destroy every living thing ) Gen 2: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge (H 1847) of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. (H 4191) H 1847: From H 3045; knowledge: - cunning, [ig-]norantly, know(-ledge), [un-] awares (wittingly). H 3045: A primitive root; to know (properly to ascertain by seeing); used in a great variety of senses, figuratively, literally, euphemistically and inferentially (including observation, care, recognition; and causatively instruction, designation, punishment, etc. ): - acknowledge, acquaintance (-ted with), advise, answer, appoint, assuredly, be aware, [un-] awares, certainly, for a certainty, comprehend, consider, …. . regard, have respect, skilful, can (man of) skill, be sure, of a surety, teach, (can) tell, understand, have [understanding]…. etc 10. Meaning – God didn’t warn Adam & Eve for nothing – He had a specific Purpose and Plan for them – and knew exactly what would happen if they start getting “knowledge” on their own instead of walking by FAITH, TRUST and in Relationship with HIM alone… 11. Thus, my first point of note is – in order to Truely LIVE – is that we need to know and be aware of the various things that are causing “death” in our lives…and be fully aware of their dangers when we allow them in our lives. . !!! eg: 12. Prov 11: 30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise. 2 13. Pro 15: 4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

LIFE in the Spirit !!! What is LIFE…. ? ? ? 1. 2. BUT: now that we have a glimpse of what can steal away our life – let’s look at what is the different forms of LIFE that can be taken/stolen from us. … ( Joh 10: 10) After going through the Hebrew and the Greek, I found that there are basically 3 forms of LIFE: 1. 2. 3. Biological Life (Bios, Biosis) – cells, plants, animals, humans. . etc, iow: there are life of some or other sort…also – a specific Calendar Time Period / age…etc. . Existence – To have Breath (Animals & Humans only), to be aware of my surroundings etc. . Soulish, Psychology / Psychiatry …. . (Greek: Psuché) Abundant / Godly LIFE (Zoé) – Life that Satisfies, Resurrected / Eternal – Life with no end 3. Gen 2: 7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of 4. 5. In other words – when a body and breath comes together – then a SOUL starts to exist… Gen 3: 22 -24 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, 6. 7. 8. 9. life; and man became a living soul. lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: …. and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. Meaning – after sin entered the world, God had to protect the Tree of LIFE from man in totality – till Jesus came, and showed us what real LIFE actually is…before He can allow us to eat from it…. and Truly LIVE !!! Rev 2: 7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. (Letter to the Church of Ephesus ) Rev 22: 14 Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. NOTE: The Greek word for LIFE used here for the “Tree of Life” – is the Greek word Zoé or Zao (G 2222, G 2197)…meaning Abundant Godly LIFE !!! (and is also used in the following texts ) 10. Joh 3: 16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (and Joh 10: 10 – Life in Abundance ) 11. Joh 11: 25 -26 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. BUT now – if we look in the Hebrew and the Greek at the word for SPIRIT, you will find that it means BREATH…: H 7306: Ruach - A primitive root; properly to blow, that is, breathe; only (literally) to smell or (by implication perceive (figuratively to anticipate, enjoy): - accept, smell, X touch, make of quick understanding. (eg: Gen 8: 21, Ps 115: 6, Amos 5: 21) H 7307: Ruach - From H 7306; wind; by resemblance breath, that is; figuratively life, anger, … by resemblance spirit, but only of a rational being (including its expression and functions): - air, anger, blast, breath , spirit ([-ual]), tempest, X vain, ([whirl-]) wind (-y). Gen 1: 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit (H 7307) of God moved upon the face of the waters. Thus: to have Breath - means to also have SPIRIT !!! Meaning God wants His Breath to fill us – and give us HIS LIFE – like the Prophecy in Joel – and that was confirmed by Peter on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2: 16 -18 – G 4151) : Joel 2: 28 -29 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My Spirit (H 7307) upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out My Spirit (H 7307). G 4154: pneo - A primary word; to breathe hard, that is, breeze: - blow. Compare G 5594 (psucho ) G 4151: pneuma - From G 4154; a current of air, that is, breath (blast) or a breeze; by analogy or figuratively a spirit, that is, (human) the rational soul, (by implication) vital principle, mental disposition, etc. , or (superhuman) an angel, daemon, or (divine) God, Christ’s spirit, the Holy Spirit: - ghost, life, spirit (-ual, -ually), mind. Compare G 5590 ( psuche ). G 4157: pnoe - From G 4154; respiration, a breeze: - breath, wind. Act 2: 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind(G 4157), and it filled all the house where they were sitting. Act 2: 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost (G 4151), and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit (G 4151) gave them utterance. Act 17: 24 -25 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that He is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though He needed any thing, seeing He giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; Act 17: 28 For in Him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also 4 His offspring.

Paul talks about being fleshly minded as a Carnal Mind. . !!! Rom 8: 5 -17 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. : 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. (see also Heb 11: 6 – it is Faith that Pleases God ) : 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His. : 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. : 11 But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. : 12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. : 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. : 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. : 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. : 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: : 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together. G 4561: sarx - flesh (as stripped off the skin), that is, (strictly) the meat of an animal (as food), or (by extension) the body (as opposed to the soul (or spirit), or as the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred, or (by implication) human nature (with its frailties (physically or morally) and passions), or (specifically) a human being (as such): - carnal (-ly, + -ly minded), flesh ([-ly ]). 1 Cor 15: 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. LIFE in the Spirit !!! WHAT is LIFE in the Spirit ? ? ? 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Well the First thing we need to understand who is God…!! God said to Moses in Exo 3: 14 - I AM THAT I AM Meaning – the SELF EXISTING ONE Then Jesus came and said in Joh 6: 47 -48 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. I am that bread of life. Joh 6: 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. Then Paul comes and writes in: 1 Cor 6: 17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. and 2 Cor 3: 17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Liberty in Jesus Meaning Complete Freedom when we are Joined to HIM in Spirit !! ‘Cause Jesus brought this Freedom to us…. by GIVING UP / Lay Down HIS LIFE (Joh 10: 15 -17) Rom 6: 16 -23 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? …. 12. : 18 -21 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: …. for the end of those things is death. 13. : 22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. 14. : 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 15. Meaning – when we only dwelled in the sinful nature of the Flesh / World alone – we were slaves of it – and couldn’t free ourselves from it… 16. BUT: The Blood of Jesus had to be shed – 1 Joh 1: 7, 9 – in order for us to be cleared / cleansed from all un-righteousness… 17. And now – we are FREE to LIVE an everlasting LIFE with God – as Death is Swallowed up by God’s LIFE (1 Cor 15: 54 -58) 18. NOTE: Jesus prayed in Joh 17: 1 -3 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify Thy Son, that Thy Son also may glorify Thee: As thou hast given Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given Him. And this is life eternal, that they might 8 know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (Compare Joh 6 & Joh 8)

LIFE in the Spirit !!! How do we truly LIVE in the Spirit ? ? ? 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Paul says in Romans 8 & Galatians 5: Rom 8: 1 -2 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Rom 8: 3 -4 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh : That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Gal 5: 24 -25 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. (or: keep in step with the Spirit, follow the Spirit’s leading ) NOTE: This Paul writes just after he explained the works of the flesh vs the fruits of the Spirit … trying to explain that we must come into MATURITY in the SPIRIT ( See Eph 4) The Hebrews writer writes in chapter 10: Heb 10: 18 -20 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which He hath consecrated for us, through the Veil, that is to say, His flesh; Heb 10: 21 -23 And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised; ) THUS: To Summarize – the main purpose of living in the Spirit of God : Is to LIVE Freely under the Grace of God and Joined to His Spirit For EVER …!!!! 1. 2. 3. BUT IF: We choose to step back into the Physical / Fleshly / Worldly / LAW system at any time – then we will again experience the darkness and the hopelessness of this world… THUS: CHOOSE WISELY in everything you say and do – is this Fleshly or is this SPIRIT !!!
