Leningrad Institute of Chemistry and Pharmacy
The Leningrad Institute of Chemistry and Pharmacy is one of the largest higher education establishments in our country. It was organized in 1919.
A. C. Ginsburg G. A. Nadson L. A. Orbeli Famous scientists of our country such as professor A. C. Ginsburg, academicians G. A. Nadson and L. A. Orbeli took an active part in the organization of the institute and its work.
In 1921 the workers and scientists of the institute organized new laboratories of ü analytical chemistry; ü organic chemistry; ü physiological chemistry; ü inorganic chemistry; ü pharmaceutical technology.
In the institute there was • • a physics room an anatomy room a histology room a pharmacognosy room a botany and microbiology room a pharmacology room a toxicological chemistry room.
In 1940 the institute had 822 students, 17 post- graduates and 65 professors and assistant professors.
During the war period didn’t function. The professor, assistants and student worked in hospitals and helped the front and the population of the blockaded city.
The Leningrad Institute of Chemistry and Pharmacy has an experimental chemist shop designed for the preparation of more then 1000 perceptions daily a chemical laboratory, consisting of 10 rooms, and several museums with the richest collections.
