LEGENDS OF WALES ANNA VEZHNOVETS

«MABINAGION» Mabinagion it is a collection, which contains 12 legends. This book consists of 3 groups of legends: “ The four branches” of the Mobinogi”, “The three Romances” and “ Independent novels”.

THE FIRST BRANCH – THE MABINOGI OF PWYLL • The hero of this branch, Phyll Pendevic Dyfed, undergoes a series of magical trials before emerging as the ‘Head of Annon’. After this he married Great Qeen. Then the son of Rhiannon and Phyll was borned and on the day of his birth Pryderi dissappeared. Phyll accused his wife of killing. He punished Rhiannon. And only after happy return of her son, she was released.

THE SECOND BRANCH – THE MABINOGI OF BRANWEN • Branwen is a dother of Llyr and Penardin. She married king of Ireland. But the marriage did not bring a piece. Bad handling of Matholfch with Branwen forced Bran to invade Ireland, which resulted his own death and the death of his companions.

THE THIRD BRANCH – THE MABINOGI OF MANAWYDAN • Manawydan is a son of Llyr. The wife of Manawydan was Rhiannon. He adept at changing form and magical knowledge, and when the Tribes of Danu was defeated and went to the hills, he gave them three miracles: the spell , that makes them invisible, el, that gave them immortality and eternal youth and pigs, which can relive after eating.

THE FOURTH BRANCH – THE MABINOGI OF MATH • Math – the son of Matonwy. He was a king of Gwynned. The nephew of Math fell in love with Gavin , who intended to keep soles of Math. Hilwitewy deceive Math and forced him to leaved his place. • And when Math returned, Gavin could not kepp his soles , because she was not a virgin. Math married Gavin and punished his nephews.
