The largest FE college in Europe Our mission: to improve lives and economic success through learning and skills
We have around 5, 000 employees working across more than 20 locations providing learning and skills to over 80, 000 learners and 3, 000 employers across the UK.
Why join the pilot? • Early access to a valuable sector-wide benchmarking tool • Already exploring ways of further embedding learning technology into the existing quality systems and processes • Strategic priority to identify and share good practice in the use of ILT
Implementation • Buy in from Principal and Vice Principal for Quality • Support from Quality admin team • Facilitated by ILT Champions and Learning Technologists
55 staff 23 meetings 1 telephone interview 3 email contributions
Challenges • • College restructure Short time frame Some key people unavailable Curriculum areas not mapping directly onto SSAs • No single person to moderate
Positives • • Staff very engaged in the process Consensus-based approach worked well Prompted valuable discussions about ILT Raised profile of ILT Champions and learning technologists • Follow up training and support sessions booked
Feedback • Too many questions • ‘One size fits all’ approach not ideal • Difficult to moderate responses across college/sector • Some terminology not understood e. g. MOOCs
Next steps • Simplify responses into themes for easy comparison across SSAs/sector • RAG rate to highlight key areas for action • Revisit institutional and departmental ILT action plans • Build into SAR
