Official crimes Victim studies Many sociologists use official statistics in their research. There are many reasons why using official statistics can be useful The most well-known victim study in the UK is the BCS, carried out by the Home Office since 1981 cheap not cheap readily available Not easily available provide detailed quantitative data which is Respondents answer a detailed reliable and often representative questionnaire. may vary in their accuracy indicates an under reporting of crime. http: //www. tutor 2 u. net/blog/index. php/sociology/comments/revising-official-statistics-and-crime
Official crime statistics and victim studies Official crime statistics are more accurate, because sociologists can use a wide range of methods and sources to study crime and official statistics can be an important source of information about crime. Although official statistics are often heavily criticized by sociologists they provide a potentially useful source of secondary data, if used cautiously. However, Firstly it must be noted that government statistics –apart from the BCS(British Crime Survey ) – only show the rate of recorded crime. This means that they only reflect crimes known to the police. This in turn means that these statistics are dependent on either the police identifying criminal activity or on the public reporting crime. The BCS only looks at crimes against households so does not include corporate and white-collar crimes such as fraud. People are very unlikely to report 'victimless crimes' such as drug taking, or smuggling or admit to committing domestic violence against members of their own family even though it is included in the BCS. On the other hand, the BCS also helps identify those most at risk of different types of crime. Nonetheless, with official crime statistics It is possible to use statistics based on offences cleared up to measure the effectiveness of the police.

Further research My further research question is “Does Chine expand its territory in Central Asia? ”. It’s a global issue, because it’s one of the actual problem in the modern world. China is a great power. Currently, China, with the economy growing rapidly, becoming one of the leading world powers. Significant population and scarcity of natural resources in this country have become a source of various internal contradictions that China's leadership is trying to solve by other countries.
