System Concept Review (SCR) w Held February 21 -22 at EROS (and the weather System Concept Review (SCR) w Held February 21 -22 at EROS (and the weather was great!) w Reviewed ground system ops concepts w Designed to gauge progress towards the Ground System (GS) System Requirements Review (SRR) in August 2007 w Captured 77 RIDs (i. e. action items) in two major groups: w Policy and L 1 requirements issues needing USGS HQ clarification w Technical issues requiring engineering / science definition or clarification in the operations concept and segment requirements w Next four slides outline major issues of interest U. S. Department of the Interior 8

Updates to Product Requirements w LDCM will generate one standard data product w Precision Updates to Product Requirements w LDCM will generate one standard data product w Precision and terrain corrected (L 1 T) w Pixel values will be at-sensor radiance or at-sensor reflectance w 4000 L 1 T products per day; 16 -bit data in GIS-ready format w LDCM will focus on electronic delivery of L 1 T products w Web-enabled access with no hard media w L 0 “standard” and user specified products not currently planned w User feedback will determine what others may be considered w LDCM will support “bulk” data delivery w Bulk requirements not well understood; User feedback needed w Initially, bulk delivery on media is planned for “Archive” and L 1 T data w Will address requirements through a RFI / questionnaire U. S. Department of the Interior 9

LDCM Standard L 1 T Parameters w Parameters based on: w Feedback from Landsat LDCM Standard L 1 T Parameters w Parameters based on: w Feedback from Landsat L 1 T Pilot w Current understanding of user community requirements w Need for consistency with heritage Landsat products w w w w w Pixel size: Media type: Product type: Output format: Map projection: Datum: Orientation: Resampling: Accuracy U. S. Department of the Interior 14. 25 m pan / 28. 5 m multispectral Download (no cost) – no hard media planned L 1 T Geo. TIFF UTM WGS 84 North up Cubic convolution ~12 m 90% (CE) global 10

Additional Product Related Issues w LDCM will require user registration for L 1 T Additional Product Related Issues w LDCM will require user registration for L 1 T data download w Will strive to reduce impacts on users w LDCM will follow COFUR guidelines w USGS HQ determined COFUR permits web-enabled L 1 T products w COFUR allows for applicable charges for user specified & bulk data w USGS HQ updating Landsat data policy for L 1 -7 and LDCM U. S. Department of the Interior 11

Other Requirements Issues w LDCM will support priority acquisition and off-nadir requests w Will Other Requirements Issues w LDCM will support priority acquisition and off-nadir requests w Will coordinate draft tasking criteria with LST Mission Ops Group w Criteria will preserve LTAP and be consistent with current missions w USGS HQ planning a policy statement based LST input w LDCM will support International Cooperator (IC) community w At recent LTWG, ICs expressed strong interest in LDCM w Bulk delivery mechanism will also support data exchange with ICs w LDCM will support a backup data archive w Off-site archive planned but with low cost approach w User feedback indicated costly “hot” backup was not necessary w Thanks to LST for your quick response to our questions!!
