Kinds of mass media Information collected by journalists in mass media is only 15% of the total of information, other 85% is supplied by PR, corporations, firms. Mass media can be divided into 2 groups: Press- printed texts electronic mass media- radio, TV, Internet Press. It may be divided into types by the following criteria: A. *Regularity:
1. Daily cycle of operation is 24 hours – breaking news 2. Weekly – cycle is 7 days – the most attractive for PR and lobbying 3. Monthly 4. Quarterly (ежеквартальник) B. **Objectives ( themes) 1. Business 2. Social-political 3. Tabloid – yellow media– entertainment, rumors 4. Special publications (scientific, medical, industrial)
• ***Radio has a boom now. It is heard everywhere. • ***TV – is the most mass way of mass media’s information spread. • ***Internet – the most innovative mass media. Each channel, newspaper, magazine has own site and can spread information more quickly.
PR and lobbyist work with mass media PR specialist is interested in 3 categories of mass media people: editors, commercial directors and journalists. His work with these people may include: • - news supply - journalists • - publications blockade ( negative) - editors • - news receiving through personal contacts. • Commercial directors can help you to place advertising. • Work with mass media requires its classification (local, special agencies, daily, weekly, radio programs, TV programs, foreign editions)
