Speaking in an age to follow the rule of Moliere's comedy, Renyar was much indebted to his great predecessor, and Plautus (the play «Le retour imprevu» and «Les Menechmes» inspired by Plautus) and Corneille (especially his comedy «Le Menteur» ). § § § § § "Serenade" "Wait for me under the elm" "Ball" "The Gambler" (1696) - a bright genre painting from the life of players ruined nobles and roguish servants, subsequently caused a number of imitations; "Scattered" (1697) "Democritus" (1700) "Love Madness" (1704) - a cheerful and lively farce, inspired by the Italian comedy "Menaechmus" (1705) - borrowed from the Latin author skillfully story connected with French household characteristics "The only heir" (1708) - a bit cynical, but sometimes very witty picture of French manners, full of comic complications and surprises
Renyar often fell into a caricature, resorted to vaudeville effects, trying in that no matter what the audience laugh; he was not able, like Moliere, to create a true "comedy of manners", did not pursue the objectives accusatory, did not want to correct or instruct the surrounding society; his satirical antics were not always the depth and thoughtfulness.
