Key stone to learning 3 x per week for about 15 minutes Change their own reading books. They have a library book of their choice this might be to share with you or for you to read to them or for them to read. They have a guided reading book that we choose and we change when they have achieved all the Assessment foci which is usually two to three weeks. Guided Reading will sometimes consist of a reading comprehension task in which the children will not take a book home. Book banded books (scheme books)–can change when they want to. They add a sticker to the reading record book to show you what they are working on in school.
Spellings will given each week to be learnt for a weekly spelling test. Look, Cover, Write, check, kinaethestic ways of learning Mix of key words and phonic spellings set in phonic groups. Mental maths test weekly- makes a large difference if they know 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10 x tables, number bonds to 10, 20, 100. Practice telling the time to 5 minutes in analogue and digital. Homework is a mix of literacy/topic and Numeracy. Each week they have to complete either a maths tasks or a topic task. Generally it is expected that you will sit with your child and provide some support.
Need a pencil (pen lisence) case- scissors, ruler, felt- pens, coloured pencils, a pencil. Water bottles- must have this as we have no sink!! Must be water in them and must have a lid. PE kit- shorts, t-shirt, tracksuit, pumps and trainers all must be named and in a named bag. They will be given a plastic folder for their reading books and homework. They can choose to have a small rucksack/bag. They will be expected to empty their own trays and hand in their own homework. Tuck money- children can buy tuck for about 50 p.
At 8: 45 children enter the school from the junior playground and walk to their cloakroom. There will be morning work set that they can start- important time for us to give them FIT help. A bell and registration will take place at 8: 55. At the end of the day a teacher will be present in the junior playground for the children to be released at 3: 15. Those children with siblings will be released to the infant playground.
You can make an appointment with the office. At the end of each day Mr Broomfield and Mrs Turner will alternate between the infant and junior playgrounds.
Learn 2, 5, 10 x tables- move on to 3 x and 4 x Number bonds to 10, 20 and 100. Time - practice analogue and digital 5 minutes past and to the hour. Estimate and measure using ml, cm, grams water games, baking, measuring plants Spotting 3 - digit numbers and saying 1 or 10 more and less than the number.
