Japan-Europe MIRAI Programme Mutual-understanding, Intellectual Relations and Academic Exchange Initiative Objective n The Government Japan-Europe MIRAI Programme Mutual-understanding, Intellectual Relations and Academic Exchange Initiative Objective n The Government of Japan will launch a short-term youth exchange programme in FY 2015 to invite 150 European under-graduate and graduate students in the areas of politics, security and economics to Japan. n The programme is entitled as the “Japan-Europe MIRAI Programme”. With the Japanese word Mirai that means “future, ” the Government of Japan hopes that the programme will offer an opportunity to (i) promote mutual-understanding , (ii) enhance intellectual discussions and (iii) build networks among future leaders of Japan and Europe, and thereby will foster a solid foundation of Japan-Europe relations in the future. Target persons and countries 150 students who fall into the following two criteria: n Students who are either graduate or in the senior years of under-graduate , from major universities in the European countries, European neighboring countries and Russia , AND whose nationalities are those countries. n Students who are specialised in international relations, security, politics, economics or Asian studies , and who are eager to take leadership in those areas in the future. *Except those who have ever joined any inbound programmes run by the Go. J, or those who have experienced long-term stay in Japan before.
