Conformity Assessment • One of the primary objectives of the ITU is to promote the capacity of conformity assessment internationally • Conformity assessment activities include: Testing, Surveillance, Inspection, Auditing, Certification, Registration, Accreditation etc. 10
Interoperability issues • One of the primary objectives of the ITU is to provide for the interoperability of telecommunications equipment internationally • Interoperability involves testing to ensure compatibility with existing equipment or new equipment • ITU Standards (Approximately 3 300 standards) • GSC (Global Standards Cooperation) • ETSI (European Telecommunications Standardisation Institute) 11
